Sometimes we need to pause and find the space
To ask, "How are you?" to a familiar face.
It doesn’t matter where you walk or stand,
Or what you do with hours in your hand.
When words return, and answers gently flow,
It brings a warmth, a mutual respect we know.
A simple bond acknowledgment can make,
A quiet kindness given for its sake.
But if you reach, and only silence falls,
Or anger echoes off the distant walls,
The lack of answer shouldn't dim your light,
Nor turn your steady steps into the night.
For what they choose to give is theirs to bear;
It doesn't change the value of your care.
So let it go, and hold your head up high
